Joseph Barca – Special Litigation Counsel
Joseph Barca, Special Litigation Counsel with Fullerton Beck, served as a criminal prosecutor in both the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office and the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office for more than 13 years.
Joseph brings to Fullerton Beck a deep understanding of how to investigate and try complex cases from his years as lead counsel in all facets of criminal cases including shootings, robberies, burglaries, sexual assaults, weapons charges, kidnappings, strangulations, assaults, larcenies, narcotics, attempted murder, and homicide. His experience as a prosecutor also provides him with a unique perspective when investigating and defending general liability matters involving assaults, trespass, intentional tort, negligence, and security claims.
Joseph has successfully tried numerous felony and non-felony matters to verdict in both jury and non-jury trials. In addition to trying cases, he routinely presented matters to the grand jury, conducted evidentiary hearings, and engaged in discovery. Joseph also has extensive experience engaging in motion practice and negotiating complex plea agreements, skillsets he draws on when vying for early dismissals, negotiating settlements, and resolving matters using arbitration and mediation. Joseph is also known for drafting compelling appellate briefs.
In addition to preparing and trying cases, Joseph also conducted many comprehensive investigations into all aspects of fraud and regularly led investigative teams consisting of federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies, attorneys, forensic accountants, and investigative analysts. He also has substantial experience interviewing and proffering all types of defendants, targets of investigations, and witnesses.
Joseph earned his J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law and graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. from Binghamton University. Joseph is admitted to practice in New York.
