Shaina Wood – Associate

vCARD vcard

Shaina Wood is a litigator who has focused her practice on employment law, representing both defendants and plaintiffs in discrimination matters.

She honed her skills as a litigator as an Assistant Corporation Counsel for the city of New York in the Labor and Employment Division, handling a large caseload on behalf of city agencies, such as the NYPD, the Department of Corrections, and the Department of Education.

After leaving Corporation Counsel, Shaina transitioned to private practice, representing plaintiffs in employment discrimination cases arising under state and federal statutes, including FMLA, FLSA, ADEA, and ADA.

These experiences exposed her to highly sensitive matters that involve sexual assault, psychological and mental injury, corporate liability and successor liability. She developed a heightened sensitivity to the emotional toll these cases take and learned how to support both defendants and plaintiffs best. She also became skilled at identifying meritless cases quickly and evaluating restitution when settlements were warranted.

While in law school, Shaina completed an externship in the office of the Lord Chief Justice of Northern Ireland and participated in Fordham’s advanced mediation clinic, where she resolved discovery disputes presented to Justice Shlomo Hagler’s Court Attorneys in New York County Supreme Court.
